Big Girl Bed and more...

We changed Bri's bed to a toddler bed about a month ago. We've had some good days and some naps in the hallway days, but overall she has adjusted really well. Putting a gate in the doorway really helped her to understand that she still had to take a nap even if she wasn't trapped in a crib. We have a bedtime routine that helps too. We say prayers with Daddy, brush teeth, lay in bed and read two books, (she always has to have her own, and then we trade.) make sure she has her teddy and a blanky, then turn off the light and sing a song. Usually about halfway through the song Bri will put her hand up and say "bye" and blow me kisses, which is her way of telling me that she gets it, it's time for her to go to sleep…so just leave already mom! Or maybe my singing is just that bad! Probably a little of both. Putting Bri to bed is sometimes quite a process, but laying next to my baby girl reading books and talking is usually the best part of my day.
